Saturday will see a double centred High pressure of 1029 millibars off the North Western Coast of Galicia, with the other half at 1031 millibars firmly in the bay of Biscay. To counter this big area of High pressure will be a weak / fat Low pressure of 1008 millibars over Scandinavia, whilst to our West will be a big deep Low of 987 millibars in the near Northern Atlantic South East of Iceland and off the Western Irish Coast. This deep Low will have a trailing fatter Low of 1005 millibars coming out of Newfoundland in the far Western Atlantic, whilst a High pressure of 1019 millibars will sit over Southern Greenland. By Sunday the picture will not have changed too much except for the deep Low West of Ireland which will have moved rapidly North and East to sit just North East of Scotland at 984 millibars. The High pressure will still be double centred, just spread out more, with one fat entity of 1033 millibars still sitting off Galicia and stretching into the Bay of Biscay, whilst the other High will have moved East into South Eastern Europe at 1028 millibars. It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
