PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Saturday will see a deep Low of 987 millibars in the Mid Atlantic heading towards us, with another double centred Low of 999 millibars and 1000 millibars in the North Atlantic South East of Greenland. The High pressures will be to the East with a High pressure of 1019 millibars in South Eastern Europe, whilst to the North there will be a High pressure of 1041 in the Norwegian Sea just off the Northern Coast of Norway. By Sunday the High pressures will have taken some hold with the High off the Norwegian Coast will have fattened and moved inland over Sweden, being about 1040 millibars. This High will stretch all the way to cover much of the United Kingdom at around 1024 millibars, Saturday’s Low pressure’s in the mid Atlantic will have filled in the North, whilst in the Mid Atlantic the Low will have moved East towards us, but filled to about 101 millibars. All this will mean swell will be limited to Northern Scotland and the East Coast of the United Kingdom and North Eastern Scotland. The far South West of the United Kingdom will also have small ripples, but do read your areas and stay tuned as things may change as the week goes on……….

OVERALL

Northern Scotland will be cleanest and the best, with Sunday being the main day. The next best looks to be the East Coast which will have swell, but be lumpy-ish due to the onshore winds. Read your areas and stay tuned as things may change as the week goes on……….…

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
