Saturday will see a Low pressure of 995 millibars over the mainland United Kingdom, with a deeper Low pressure of 986 millibars in the near Atlantic just West of Ireland. Meanwhile in the Northern Atlantic there will be a Low pressure of 988 millibars, West of Iceland / South East of Greenland. With a couple of Low pressures of 983 to 990 millibars coming out of Newfoundland. The only High pressure to speak of will be a weak-ish one of 1022 millibars just South West of Portugal. Sunday will see High off Portugal move North and East to be over Central Spain at 1027 millibars, with another High pressure of 1025 millibars in the Western Mediterranean. Whilst Saturday’s Low pressure West of Ireland will move North and East too (partly pushed by the High pressures, and Low’s out of Newfoundland), filling a bit to 989 millibars, being in the North eastern Atlantic off North Western Scotland, whilst the other Low South West of Iceland on Saturday will spin Westwards to be just South East of Greenland at 993 millibars. Finally the two Low pressures out of Newfoundland will move East into the mid Atlantic filling to be both around 995 millibars. All this will mean swell amplifying spots only. But stay tuned as things may change as the week goes on………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
