Example Forecast 22/01/11 – 23/01/11 – Tuesday Early Bird Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A big fat High of 1040 millibars will have encompassed the whole of the UK by Midday on Saturday, a fat Low of 998 millibars in the Barents / Norwegian Sea meanwhile will move down the Norwegian Coast towards us. Sunday will see the Low move into Sweden / Finland, whilst the High will be pushed over Ireland / the near Atlantic. This will mean that the winds will be Easterly in direction for much of the UK, onshore for the East Coast but offshore for West Coast spots. Make sure you read your areas to make the most of what there is. But do stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on………….

OVERALL

Clean and small in the South West with dying swell, and onshore and bigger lumpiness for the East = a mixed bag! Stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
