Example Forecast 22/01/11 – 23/01/11 – Thursday Arvo Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Well in a nutshell there will be a huage High of 1036 to 1040 millibars over the whole of the UK for the period. Right, job done, if only it were so simple ! - the Low of 998 millibars in the Barents Sea / Norwegian Sea will not now come into play for the East Coast, and will instead more off North eastwards out of Norway’s sphere of influence. The only other action out there is a weak Low of over 1000 millibars off the Eastern Greenland Coast. But this will be weak and only really have any bearing on Northern Scotland for Saturday. So a sort of stay at home warm and dry weekend!

OVERALL

A flat weekend overall, perhaps Northern Scotland if you wanted mush, otherwise in reality it’ll just be smurf-surf!

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

A flat weekend, although Saturday will have a ripple. But not worth an epic drive, as by Sunday it’ll be super small. Could be a fun weekend to go away and do other things!?!

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
