PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

Okay the over complicated scenario earlier in the week has not become simpler! It stands as follows……two fat Low’s in the 1000 millibar range will be off the Eastern Greenland Coast / off Western Iceland, while another fat Low of 1000 millibars will be moving into mainland Norway, whilst all this is happening over us there will be another two fat Lows in the 1000 millibar range too, mainly over Northern England and Northern Ireland. The High to counteract all these Lows will be a fat one too at 1036 millibars, but off the Eastern Coast of North America / in the far Western Atlantic. By Sunday the situation will have moved on obviously, with the High now in the Mid-Atlantic at 1030 millibars with the two Low’s that were over Northern England and Ireland having moved East too into the North Sea and Scandinavia. All this will mean rapidly changing winds and the swell being effected to as a result. Make sure you read your individual areas (and neighbouring areas) to get the most of what there is……

OVERALL

A mixed weekend everywhere, Scotland will be variable, although the West Coast looks promising at wrap around spots that can handle the wind, the Scottish east Coast also looks fun at exposed spots though this time, whilst the North Coast will be dealing with the cross-onshore conditions. The east Coast of England will be fun, the more North you go, whilst the South Coast will only be good in the far West, and even then not great. The Channel Islands and the deepest South West of Kernow will have a fun Saturday, but naffer Sunday, and Devon and Wales will be similar, just smaller. So depending on where you are you will get one day of rideable fun waves at least, and if you’re in Scotland on either side (so to speak) two days. To play or not to play/! - that we leave up to you, if you do, play safe; but have fun whatever you do………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

A good fun weekend really for you either on the East Coast perhaps Scarborough up, or Norfolk (if it’s close?!); but mainly in the South West and Wales. The conditions should be more than manageable, and maybe even a little challenging for you at times on Saturday, but have fun and keep improving at what your doing, practice, practice, practice is the key.

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
