Example Forecast 30/04/11 – 01/05/11 – Tuesday Version......

PRESSURE SYNOPSIS

A Low of 996 millibars off the Portuguese Coast will push fronts over Spain and into Biscay on Saturday. But a big High of 1032 millibars over Scandinavia (in particular Norway) will push winds from the East over the period, thus in turn preventing the Portuguese Low from moving East into our sphere of influence. It will also prevent any swell from getting into the South West overall, so think High pressure and small waves, or at best onshore waves for the East Coast! But stay tuned for further updates, as things will undoubtedly develop as the week goes on………….

OVERALL

Deepest darkest parts of the South West, Northern / North Western Scotland would all be our choices. The next best would be small Wales, or onshore East Coast waves?! – the choice is yours……! Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

BEGINNERS / IMPROVERS

A much calmer weekend than the last one, very manageable for you over the period, you should be able to get outback and snag your own green face. Stay tuned for further updates, as things may change as the week goes on…………

It should be remembered

It should be remembered:

  • Regardless of the Weekend Outlook if there is surf, you should be out there to improve your surfing ability
  • so unless it’s flat, just ignore it(!) and go surfing.
  • The Weekend Outlook is aimed at those who are competent at paddling out in 6ft plus surf and looking for perfect conditions.
  • This is a SURF report, we care about the waves, as to whether it is sunny, rainy, snowy or hailing is incidental, and neither here nor there as far as we are concerned.
  • Also note that this is always written for midday, so there may be variances during the AM and PM.
  • Wave Heights are written in what you are actually taking in the face / duck diving, we are not into macho bs of measuring the wave from the back, this is the real thing, what you drop and ride = simple.
