Scotland 24/09/16 – 25/09/16 Friday Version......
Go Back to Overview

Areas Covered:

Centred on Thurso, but may also mention Edinburgh and Machrihanish in the recommendation area.

Head high on the North Coast, with strong Southerly, predominantly offshore winds. Sunday will see the swell drop to shoulder high, with very strong cross-shore winds. The East Coast (around Fittie) on Saturday will be head high with strong cross-offshore winds, Sunday will see the swell still around shoulder high plus with strong offshore winds. The West Coast will be head high plus, with strong cross-onshore South Westerly winds throughout, with all the swell coming up through the Irish Sea and hitting the Mull of Galloway. So you should find some wrap-arounds spots where swell will get in and be sheltered from the strong-ish cross-onshore winds. Sunday will see the swell drop to chest high, the winds will continue to be strong and cross-onshore. So the East Coast looks fun, although the strong winds will flatten the swell somewhat as the weekend goes on, but the North Coast will be the best bet overall. Wherever you go you will need to hunt somewhat……….

Swell: 4-6ft Wind: S force 4-6 plus

Swell: 3-5ft Wind: SW force 5-7 plus
